Skate Park
Update on Fulton Ravine South Park
In the July edition of the Southeast Voice we announced that the development of our park would begin in July. Unfortunately, due to process delays and a funding gap the build has been delayed until 2013. The design is complete; the skate park elements are ready.
We now need to close the funding gap we have so that we can build as early as possible in 2013.
To help us we are looking for dedicated individuals of all ages to help us fundraise so that we can move this project forward. We know that the skateboarding community spans the ages, so we are looking forward to having you involved. We are planning to meet in early October. For details of the meeting, contact
If you are interested in donating to the project, we want you to know that donations over $20 are eligible for a tax receipt! Cheques must be made payable to the City of Edmonton, and must reference the SECLA Fulton Ravine South Park Development project. Cheques can be mailed to

GREAT NEWS! Park Development to Start
After many years of consultation and meetings on the design of the park, construction of it will commence in July 2012, on Terrace Road across from Capilano Mall.
Officially known as Fulton Ravine South Park, this regional park will incorporate trails, picnic sites, and extensive landscaping, with its focal point being a permanent skateboard park.
Youth in the area are excited to see a ‘hassle free’ park development earmarked for them to enjoy. There will also be passive recreation opportunities for seniors and others. The park will also utilize a new ‘green technology’ concept in the parking lot design and construction.
The project is an initiative of your South East Community Leagues Association and its 11 member leagues. Also sponsoring the project is The City of Edmonton and the Province of Alberta. Numerous Corporate entities such as Voice Construction Ltd., Sterling Crane, Burnco, Alta Steel, United Rentals and Stewart-Weir Survey are also supporting the project development with extensive cash and service in kind commitments to see this worthwhile project become a reality. If you are interested in donating to the project please let us know.
Phase one in 2012 will complete the skateboard component, the green parking lot and sidewalk enhancements. Phase Two next year will complete picnic areas, trails and landscaping.
We will be posting updates about the project on our website www.secla.ca and in the South East Voice. If you have questions about the project or would like to learn more about donating to the project you can contact
